NHS Health Check Commissioner Drop In 19.1.2024

January 19 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 am

Free

Join Michaela Nuttall, founder and director of Smart Health Solutions for an informal drop-in session to chat about the NHS Health Checks training programme, national and local delivery and training needs analysis.

If you are unable to attend and or would like to meet with Michaela or Una, the Operations Manager, please complete the enquiry form HERE and we will be in touch to arrange a call.

Our training offer has evolved; we now provide two types of training, National, where staff can book our regular online live training events for full study days, refresher, and the new Understanding CVD Risk. Or Local, where we work with you to provide a bespoke training programme tailored to your local needs. Local training can be online or in person, and while it includes the same elements as the National training, we also offer lunch and learn sessions, admin-specific, skills, clinical topics etc in addition to the core offering.

We are a registered Centre for the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH), and HEART UK supports our cardiovascular training. The NHS Health Check Competency Framework underpins our training.

We are proud of our strong heritage in supporting the NHS Health Check Programme, especially for training we have been providing since 2008 and that we have won all training tenders we have bid for.

Una O'Connor< Operations Manager at Smart Health SolutionsUna O’Connor RGN

PGDip Medical & Healthcare Education

Operations Manager

Una qualified as a Registered General Nurse in London in 1988 and spent many years working within  District Nursing and School Nursing in the London area. After studying for and achieving an American Registered Nurse licence, Una returned to acute care in preparation for emigration working in a busy Intensive Care Unit, embracing the challenge of learning new skills and extending her knowledge despite being an extremely experienced nurse. Unfortunately, life threw a curved ball and plans changed so Una made the difficult decision to take early retirement, continuing her voluntary work managing support groups; one for parents of children with visual impairment and another for parents of young persons with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.

She returned to practice during the pandemic using her previous knowledge and skills as an experienced vaccinator, also joining Smart Health Solutions, initially as a Covid-19 Support Nurse and then as the Support Lead during the height of the pandemic in addition to assisting in delivering the Health Protection and Care Champions Network.

Education is a priority for Una and she is currently undertaking a Master of Science Degree in Medical and Healthcare Education. Her passion for promotion and delivery of teaching led to the role of Communications and Engagement Lead for Learn With Nurses and Una is currently the Operations Manager for both Smart Health Solutions and Learn With Nurses.

In 2021 Una joined the ‘Nurses Working Party’ for the British and Irish Hypertensive Society Scientific Conference, tweeting updates on behalf of We Nurses, to raise awareness of CVD. Following this success, Una has continued to tweet CVD awareness through the WeNurses, Smart Health Solutions and Learn With Nurses social media at the Heart UK 2022 and 2023 conferences.

Una loves the diversity that nursing brings with the opportunity to change direction no matter what your age or experience, to continually broaden knowledge and skills.
