Overview
The aim of the course is to improve your confidence and understanding of communicating cardiovascular disease risk to patients.
The training will cover cardiovascular disease and risk communication before describing tools that can be used to support risk communication discussion with patients. Barriers to effective risk communication are explored and potential solutions are provided. The course is founded on evidence including NICE guidance.
If you want to broaden your knowledge around CVD Risk Communication and learn how to maximize the impact of discussing risk with patients, then this course is for you.
What you’ll learn
By the end of the training, you will be able to:
- Define cardiovascular disease (CVD) and risk communication.
- Describe how risk is currently communicated in the NHS Health Check.
- Apply your knowledge of QRISK® and Heart Age to help facilitate the communication of risk to patients.
- Think critically about the barriers to effective risk communication and possible ways these challenges can be reduced.
