CVD Modern Service Framework

and the NHS Health Check

The publication of the CVD Modern Service Framework (MSF) sets out an ambitious vision for cardiovascular disease prevention and care over the next decade. As local systems begin to consider what this means in practice, many commissioners are exploring how the framework could influence NHS Health Check programmes and wider cardiovascular prevention services.

Following the fantastic response to our introductory session with Helen Williams, National Clinical Director for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at NHS England, we’re delighted that Helen has agreed to join us again for a longer follow-up discussion.

Our first 30-minute session provided an introduction to the CVD Modern Service Framework and its relationship with NHS Health Checks. With so much interest and so many excellent questions from commissioners, we simply ran out of time.

This follow-up session gave us the opportunity to explore the CVD Modern Service Framework and NHS Health Checks in more depth, with plenty of time for discussion. We looked at some of the questions raised during the first session, including the future of NHS Health Checks, what the MSF may mean for local commissioners and providers, how the programme may evolve over time, and what this could mean for local implementation.
