Join our free, fun and interactive online training to improve your knowledge and understanding of VBA and Vaping Myth Busting.
All Black Country community stop smoking services now offer vapes as a smoking cessation aid.
Public Health from Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton have jointly commissioned VBA and Vaping Myth Busting Training to prepare partners and frontline staff to address vaping myths.

HOW WILL IT HELP YOU
Very Brief Advice
- Purpose of VBA, evidence base, and how it fits with vaping harm reduction.
- The Ask–Advise–Act model
- How to deliver VBA quickly and confidently in routine contacts
- Effective quit messages
- Clear, consistent advice on stopping smoking, including the role of vaping and NRT
- Responding to readiness
- What to do if someone is interested, unsure, or not ready to quit
Vaping myth busting
Understanding the NCSCT position statement, including:
- Nicotine vaping is a safer alternative to smoking tobacco
- Vaping should be promoted and offered to adult smokers
- Accurate information about the benefits of vaping should be provided
- Marketing vapes to children is unacceptable
- Use legal, regulated products
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
All roles with a direct or indirect link to tobacco, smoking, or vaping.
Registration Process
- Complete the registration form.
- You will receive a confirmation email with details of how to join the training within one week of your registration.
- Reminders are sent before the training.
- Please check spam before contacting us.
- Your public health commissioner is informed of your registration, attendance or DNA.

MEET THE TRAINERS

Michaela Nuttall RGN MSc
Director
NHS Health Check Training Lead
Michaela is a Cardiovascular Nurse Specialist, Director at Smart Health Solutions and founder of Learn With Nurses. She is the former Head of CVD Prevention for Public Health England and Clinical Advisor at OHID. She is the Chair of the Heart UK Health Care Committee and a member of the Nurses and AHP & The Guidelines and Information Working Party of the British and Irish Hypertension Society.

Una O'Connor RGN MSc FHEA
Independent Nurse Consultant
NHS Health Check Trainer
Una is an Independent Nurse Consultant. Education is a priority for her, having achieved PGCE, PG Dip and Master of Science Degree in Medical and Healthcare Education and she is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her passion for promotion and delivery of teaching led to the role of Communications and Engagement Lead for Learn With Nurses and Una is currently the Operations Manager for both Smart Health Solutions and Learn With Nurses.
